This application is primarily designed for engine setup and diagnostics purposes. By specifying the number of cylinders and the engine type (2-stroke or 4-stroke), the app is compatible with a wide range of internal combustion engines, from diesel tractors and aircraft engines to motorcycles and chainsaws. Setting an expected RPM range is necessary for guiding the analysis algorithms to determine the correct RPM, with a real-time autocorrelation graph aiding in troubleshooting and adjustment of this range.

For optimal functionality, the analysis requires a clear engine sound with minimal external interference. It is important to note that accurate RPM readings cannot be obtained if the engine is rapidly accelerating or if there is significant background noise. Thus, this app should not be viewed as a direct substitute for a fully operational tachometer.

Setup options encompass update periods ranging from 93 milliseconds to 1.5 seconds, support for one to 12 cylinders, selection between 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines, as well as features like low-pass filtering and signal clipping. The RPM tracking range spans from 400 to 90,000 RPM, with an operational range typically within +/- 30% around the expected RPM reading. Precision is generally around +/- 10 RPM.
